Jill Parello ,
M.D.
I did my under graduate training at University of Nevada, Reno with a major in biology and minor in chemistry.
Attended medical school on the island of St. Maarten ...the American University of the Caribbean. I completed 2 years there and went to England for my third clinical year.
Residency was at St. Joseph's Hospital and medical center in Phoenix Arizona (3 years)
Our family moved to Santa Cruz in September of 2007 while working for Salud Para La Gente as a general pediatrician, which has helped a ton with my spanish speaking skills!
My philosophy on being a pediatrician...every child is different and embracing that is the first step! I thought I knew just about everything there was to learn about children during my pediatric
training...then I had a child and it confirmed that I was just getting started! Being a parent and a pediatrician has helped me be both a better parent and doctor. Learning from families what has worked and what hasn't helps to increase my repertoire of advice to parents with real life experience not just what the books say! I look forward to meeting families and children and starting bonds that will last throughout their childhood. During my free time when I'm not running after an eighteen month old I like to do yoga, snowboard, and read!!
